Parade Rules

  1. To insure proper judging, a Department Banner or some means of identification shall precede all marching units in the line of march. Failure to comply will be disqualification.
  2. Any Color Guard shall bear no rifles or side arms if in civilian dress
  3. Alcoholic Beverages - 1. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the parade or staging area; 2. Any apparatus carrying alcoholic beverages will be removed from parade and will be disqualified; 3. Members should be discouraged from drinking beer while walking along the parade route after they finish parading.
  4. Talking, turning around, smoking or any form of horseplay along the line of march will be considered a violation. Penalty will be removal and disqualification of said unit.
  5. Breaking ranks while the parade is standing or any other actions or gestures that might reflect against the dignity of a Fireman will result in removal of said unit.
  6. To avoid accidents and discourage children from running into the line of march, participants are forbidden to throw or distribute candy, bubble gum, balloons or other articles from convertibles, trucks or floats during the course of the parade. Penalty will result in removal of unit from parade by Parade Marshals or Police.
  7. Float maximums : Height 13 feet (FROM GROUND TO TOP); weight is no problem.
  8. Floats will not be permitted to enter the parade displaying any political slogans.
  9. Busses are not permitted in parade. It is important that busses with marching units, musical units or equipment report to their designated starting positions, discharge all passengers and equipment and proceed to an arranged pick up area.
  10. Each unit which brings its own musical units: marching or drilling must be in forward motion only. Reverse movements or holding exhibitions in parade or in front of reviewing stand will not be permitted. Any unit in violation of these rules will be disqualified.
  11. To permit judging, all musical units must play in the designated area which will be properly identified. There will be two marshals who will appraise band leaders when playing in this area. This area is distinguished also by signs placed on corner poles, on the left side of the street, numbered 4, 3, 2, 1. At sign No. 1, band must be playing to be judged. All Trucks SHALL REMAIN SILENT IN THIS AREA.
  12. Refrain from all radio transmissions during the staging and parade. Use of Cannon is prohibited.
  13. During the parade, due to the marching band units, absolutely no sirens and electronic devices, air horns, etc. will be sounded.
  14. Distance between units shall be no more than 200 feet. This will be strictly enforced.
  15. PLEASE NOTE: All apparatus being judged must have compartment doors open two blocks prior to judging (pumps, rescue units, ambulances, etc.)
  16. NO ENTRIES RECEIVED AFTER SEPTEMBER 1st,
  17. Prizes will be awarded at 8:00 P.M. Sharp, Saturday evening in Convention Hall by parade judges. Note: to receive your prize you must present your Fire Department I.D. Card.
  18. Conduct unbecoming a Fireman during your stay will result in disqualification from the parade.
  19. Units are generally lined up by County. Final Lineup numbers are assigned just prior to the parade start. To get your lineup number and staging location a representative must report to the Registration area and pick them up.
  20. Each apparatus can only be entered in one category only.
  21. Extra judges’ consideration to be given to “hand drawn” equipment. Actual hand-drawn one way.
